In compliance with the provisions set forth under Section 4504 in Title II of the 2020 Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, also known as the CARES Act, Mississippi Delta Community College will provide CARES Student Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The intent of the CARES Act is to provide financial support to offset the cost for expenses incurred as a result of the disruption of campus operations due to the COVID-19 crisis.

What is the CARES/Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund provided by the Federal Government?

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act was passed by Congress and signed into law to provide economic relief from COVID-19. One section of the CARES Act established the Higher Education Emergency Relief fund and sent money to schools to use for emergency financial aid grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the pandemic.

 

Who is eligible for CARES Act funding?
∗ Any student that fully withdrew from classes prior to March 13, 2020 is ineligible to receive CARES Act Funds.

Students enrolled in spring 2020 who are eligible to apply for federal Title IV financial aid are eligible to receive CARES Act funds.  Students must have met the following criteria for the Spring 2020 semester:

  • Completed a 2019-2020 FAFSA that has been verified by the institution
  • Must not be on Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) suspension at the start of the Spring 2020 semester.
  • Must not be in default on any student loan
∗ Students enrolled in fully online courses prior to Spring Break and dual enrollment students are not eligible.
 

What if I have not completed a 2019-20 FAFSA?

Students have until May 25, 2020 to have a completed FAFSA on file and verified by the institution to be considered for CARES Act funding. MDCC must be listed on the FAFSA. MDCC's School Code is (002416).

∗ It is recommended that all students complete a FAFSA to be considered for CARES Act funds regardless of your income.
 

When can we expect disbursements take place? 

Disbursements will begin June 12, 2020.

 

How will CARES Act funding be distributed?

All students eligible for CARES Act Funds will automatically receive their disbursements through BankMobile. 

 

What if I do not have a BankMobile Account?

Students who have not set up an account with BankMobile please follow these steps:

  1. Go to www.refundselection.com
  2. Choose Need A Code.
    1. Type in the school name. Once you begin typing Mississippi you will be able to choose MDCC from the list.
    2. Type in your ID Number. This is your Banner “D” number.
    3. Type in your email address. BankMobile will then send you an email with your personal code.
  3. Go back to www.refundselection.com to enter your personal code.
